Growing up is weird. I think as a child I viewed the world as being this wonderful place. The idea of being an adult seemed so fun and glamorous. Yet, as I've gotten older, I've begun to view the world in a different way; I've realized how broken it is. Although there are definitely perks to being older, I've also learned that their are a lot of hard things taking place that I hadn't been aware of as a child. I know of young people battling cancer, people losing spouses, divorces, health complications, and lots of other hardships. Life is hard. And that's just a tiny bit of what is taking place in the world. In my classes this quarter, we've discussed how women are objectified in the world today and the inadequacies that people feel in the world. From cyber bullying to rape to suicide, it's so overwhelming to think of all the pain there is in the world. As I've been in these classes and seen and experienced the hardships of life, I've been reminded that the world wasn't supposed to be this way. The only way that the world could be saved was by Jesus dying on the cross, becoming the holy and perfect sacrifice to cleanse us and save us. Do you know that God loves you? But really, do you know how much he loves you? Do you know that he wants to carry all your burdens and pains? When I get overwhelmed by the world, I'm reminded that my hope isn't in what happens in the world but in God. I will never understand why there is such sorrow and pain in this world but I'm thankful to know that God is at work, even though it's often very hard or impossible to see. C.S. Lewis has an awesome quote. He says, "If I find in myself desires which nothing in this world can satisfy, the only logical explanation is that I was made for another world," all of us were. So, do you know God? Do you know that he loves you enough to die on the cross for you? Do you know that you are a treasure? You matter, whether you know it or not. So with that, how are you going to live? Where are you going to place your hope? In this world? Please know that the world will fail you but God will not. Yes, life is going to have many trials and hardships but God wants to walk with you and carry your pain. He never said it would be easy but he wants to help you and guide you along the way. You matter and God loves you more than you will ever be able to fathom.
"Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid." -John 14:27 "Look at the birds of the wait; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not more valuable than they?" -Matthew 6:26

A beautiful reminder for those of us who need it from time to time, even though we know it.
